In late 2021 Lockheed Martin approached Momentum to regarding their Space: Destination 2050 event set to be held in Washington D.C. Seen primarily as a defense contractor, Lockheed aimed to shake this image by hosting an event centered totally around thought leadership in the future of the space industry.
For this event, I was looped in to manage the build of two interactive touchscreen games that would be played on 55 inch monitors by attendees during the event.
Over the course of 6 months we worked with Millions of Tiny Robots out of Atlanta to build and model the two games. Numerous rounds of creative review with Lockheed Martin were necessary to ensure the games aligned properly with their vision of what the space industry will look like in 2050.
Lockheed experts believe the moon will be a major form of industry in 2050. Mining and energy plants will be scattered throughout its surface, and it will be seen as a “high ground” for those with a competing interest on Earth. For this concept, we built the Lunar Economy Builder, an interactive game where you choose your location on the moon, power plants, fusion reactors, mining cars and more to be given a score of how efficient your base was in certain categories.
We also built a satellite explorer, which allowed guests to observe the features of satellites that will be leveraged in 2050.
The event was a massive success with over 300 attendees from high level Lockheed customers including NASA, the Space Force, the Department of Defense, and more.
